Since new ownership in Oct 2013, and subsequent branding with Wyndham Hotel Group, the hotel has undergone several major refurbishments that have transformed the appearance, feel and culture of the hotel.
Between November 2013 and October 2014, 26 of the new wing bedroom block have been refurbished, with wet room rain shower bathrooms replacing the old shower cubicle and bath. The new wing bedroom corridors have been painted. Our Allington Function Room has been freshened. In addition, a significant investment was made in back of house plant, especially in our health and leisure club, to improve plant performance and ultimately guest facilities and guest experience.
During November and December 2014, in preparation for our Wyndham brand launch, we had a major refurbishment of our reception, library lounge and main corridor. The new modern design is nicely complimented by fresh modern LED lighting that has transformed the appearance and feel of these important main customer facing areas.
Since January this year, we have added 8 new bedrooms, including 2 sets of adjoining rooms, ideal for families with older children. We have also had a 3 month planning and design project with Angela Amesbury Design, to determine the new look that will follow in July when our main bar is refurbished, redesigned and re-launched. We have also embarked on the refurbishment of our deluxe rooms on the first floor. These lovely spacious bedrooms, overlooking local farmland are being modernised with a simple but timeless and fresh soft refurbishment, with the bathrooms being turned into wet room rain shower rooms. The corridors are also being transformed with a lighter feel from fresh and simple décor and effective, modern, eco friendly lighting. The project will run through until an estimated October completion.
Moving forward, we have the Barn Restaurant scheduled for modernising before the end of 2015, and then there is the refurbishment of our standard bedrooms on the ground floor.
By the summer of 2016, Wyndham Garden Grantham will be a completely modernised property, ready and able to meet and exceed the product and service needs of business and social markets.
